Further Information

The Severn Wye Energy Agency is one of a network of agencies across Europe, set up to stimulate the development of sustainable energy through local and regional action for energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources. It is an independent (not-for-profit) company and registered charity. SWEA services focus on the counties of Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire.

The Agency also runs the Gloucestershire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre and Local Authority Support Programme and manages the Community Renewables Initiative Local Support Team for Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire.

Areas of expertise:

The agency offers support to local authorities in achievement of their objectives under the Home Energy Conservation Act and strategic issues relating to sustainable energy (such as planning for renewable energy), as well as developing a range of initiatives with other local, regional and national bodies. SWEA also provides advice services direct to community groups and the public.
