NGV2011 Berlin, the 2nd NGVA Europe International Show & Workshops, will be held on 7-9 June 2011, in Berlin, Germany. This is a NGVA Europe (European NGV Association) event, hosted by Erdgas Mobil – German NGV Association - and organised by NGV Communications Group. It will include an exhibition and five workshops which will address topics of the utmost importance to the NGV industry.

"Communication and cooperation" to bring climate action on a local level, working closely between cities, utilities, SMEs and research is the aim of the event orgainzed together with the Covenant of Mayors for sustainable development and the energy agency of NRW. EU-energy commissioner Günther Oettinger and minister Guntram Schneider will attend the event on Friday 16 September.

The IRES is the central platform for sharing knowledge and exchanging ideas on one of the key issues concerning future energy supplies. However they all have common challenges: all are obliged to ensure that they can continue to function in the most adverse conditions. ICLEI, an internationally renowned association with over 1200 local government members committed to sustainable development, is set to hold the "Renewables 2012 Conference: cities and regions explore smart grids and smart solutions" on 25-26 October in Freiburg, Germany. Over the next years, energy investments of about 1 trillion EUR are needed to diversify existing energy resources, replace old technologies and equipment and to accomplish the ambitious goals for energy efficiency in the EU set up by the Strategy Europe 2020. As a result of the economic crisis many investments in energy remain uncertain. The need for financial mechanisms to support energy efficiency and the use of renewables on a larger scale is very real.

EUROSOLAR is continuing its successful IRES event series in 2012. IRES 2011 attracted 600 attendees, from more than 40 countries, and repeated the success of the previous year. The conference programme will address small scale/distributed storage as well as bulk and long term storage solutions and the role they plan within a smart grid. Further highlights will also be the interaction of energy networks for power, gas and heat and cross-sectoral use of energy storage.

The ene.field project will deploy up to 1,000 residential fuel cell Combined Heat and Power (micro-CHP) installations, across 12 Member States. The IEA Solar Heating & Cooling Programme (IEA SHC) and the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation (ESTIF) have decided to combine forces to organise in 2013 what will be one of the largest solar thermal conferences worldwide. The multi mobile day targets more than 50.000 employees of Hannoveranian companies like VWN, TUI, Ricoh, the City of Hannover and many more. The aim is to come to work in an almost climate friendly way by bike, train or by a car sharing group. A central event is planned on the Trammplatz, the place in front of the Town Hall Hannover.
