Workshop: Evaluation tools for nearly zero energy buildings (nZEB)
Time: 16.00h The Catalonia Institute for Energy Research - IREC organizes the workshop "Assessment tools for nearly zero energy buildings - nZEB" in the framework of European projects AIDA (IEE) and MARIE (MED). Both projects focus on issues of energy efficiency in buildings. This is an excellent opportunity to meet experts in the use of energy simulation assessment tools in buildings and urban scale.

National study tour of two social housing buildings in Mataró: Mel...
The first two national study tours will be to the Meléndez Valdés and La Llàntia buildings in Mataró. They are social housing buildings and also have commercial and parking facilities. The guide on this study tour will be by the architect from the design team responsible for the project management and construction phases. Amongst other things, he will explain and show the way the buildings were designed, constructed and commissioned.

The second national workshop of IEE Covenant CapaCITY Project, will provide theoretical and Paratical tools to local authorities interested in joining the Covenant of Mayors and to draw up the Action Plan for Sustainable Energy. It will be an opportunity to discuss in their communities and to learn about other experiences national level. The focus will be to Central-Northern Italian Local Governments

The aim is to train municipal specialists to develop and implement successfully their SEAPs. The main topics of the 3rd training are: • Practical training on greenhouse gases inventories; • Buildings; • Waste; • Stakeholder involvement.

EU cities consume 70% of energy in the EU and emit 75% of greenhouse gas emissions. Thus cities hold an essential key to reduce emissions. Many of them in EU are leaders in environmental performance, but they still have a long way to go in the adoption of RES and energy efficiency measures. Local energy planning becomes a key issue in the achievement of 3*20 objectives. Tools such as the "European Energy Award - eea(r)" and the Covenant of Mayors can be used to that end in Mediterranean cities.

This event gives an opportunity to learn about the experiences and results from the 50/50 concept, which is an innovative and successful energy saving scheme applied in schools and public buildings. The 50/50 concept was tested and rolled out to 9 countries within the framework of the Euronet 50/50 project that is starting now into its second round. 50/50 smartly provides a solution to the split incentive barrier and builds capacity of public building users to save energy.
