CASCADE IEE project, in cooperation with the Greek Centre of Renewable Energy Sources and Saving, is organising a seminar on sustainable energy in local government in Athens, Greece, on 6 December 2013. The participants will learn about the CASCADE peer-to-peer learning methodology and how it helped cities to improve their local energy policies. In addition, they will gain new knowledge and ideas on how to improve energy efficiency and increase the share of renewable energy in their cities.

This year's Annual Polis Conferences takes place in Brussels on 4-5 December 2013, and provides an excellent opportunity for cities and regions to showcase transport achievements to a large audience. For the wider transport community, the conference allows to engage with representatives of city and regional authorities on innovative transport solutions.
CASCADE IEE project, together with Hermia Group, is organising a seminar on how to use local expertise and resources to meet energy targets in Tampere, Finland, on 4 December 2013. The seminar aims to provoke a creative debate, inspire and promote a can-do spirit. The ECO2 team will present the CASCADE project and its peer-to-peer learning methodology on local energy leadership. It will also share the lessons learnt though its participation in the CASCADE transnational networking activities.

Biogas and Biomethane development have achieved a certain maturity. Despite the effort of the regional decision makers, the biogas plants operators, the technology developers and the research sector, there are still barriers that need to be removed. Biogas13 will provide answers to this challenge. The Biomethane-Regions session will show how the promotion of anaerobic digestion and of biogas upgrading technology supports the market development of biomethane for grid injection and vehicle usage.

CASCADE cities will share best practices and experiences in promoting sustainable mobility at a seminar on 28 November 2013, during the French National Public Transport Fair. Participants will discuss with three CASCADE cities (Nantes Métropole, Venice, Stockholm) and Koucky&Partners how sustainable mobility solutions could contribute to combating climate change. In addition, they will learn how the CASCADE IEE project helped the cities to improve their local mobility policies.

The National Study Tour will take place on November 27th from 10:00 am, to the building EspaiZero in Olot, Spain. It is an office building promoted as company headquarters Wattia Innova and the building will be energy self-sufficient. It started to look for an existing building which could hold these functions, and the first step was the choice of a suitable building.

The event will include the presentation of the Covenant of Mayors’ initiative and the eReNet web tools for the development of SEAPs, as well as experience and best practices from submitted SEAPs. In addition, particular emphasis will be laid on the innovative financing mechanisms for sustainable energy investments. This workshop addresses mainly local and regional authorities, interested energy experts and consultants, investors and representatives of relevant funds and programs.

The NZEB Open Doors Days campaign wants to give hands-on-experience with nearly zero energy buildings (NZEB) to the broad public and public authorities. We will organise doors open days in 10 EU countries including Malta in November 2013 and 2014. During these events both public and private actors can visit new and refurbished houses and public buildings, highlighting nearly zero energy standards.
