ManagEnergy Competition 2007 - Photos from the Presentation in León (Regional and European)

	The presentation to the winner of the ManagEnergy Online Drawing and Photo Competition 2007 took place in León on 15th November 2007.
	The autonomous community of Castilla y León in North West Spain covers an area of 94223 km² and has a population of 2.5 million.
	The attractive and historic city of León includes a mix of old and new buildings, including the Cathedral (above) and the colourful Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (left).
	One of the newest and most innovative buildings in León is the headquarters of EREN - Ente Regional de la Energía de Castilla y León.
	All aspects of the bioclimatic EREN building are designed to maximise energy efficiency and sustainability. Electricity is provided by an array of Solar PV Panels in front of the building. The south-facing side of the building features a sealed glass wall that traps the sun's heat and maximises natural light. The north-facing side of the building has minimal windows and is built in stone to prevent heat loss. A small-scale cogeneration unit powers the air conditioning, while a solar thermal system on the roof provides hot water. Inside, the building features many other examples of sustainable architecture, such as high efficiency radiators and low energy lighting in the stairwells.

	The presentation ceremony was covered by Spanish regional television and local newspapers.

	Alba Alvarez Castro is congratulated and presented with her prizes by Roger Coombs and Malin Fransson of ManagEnergy. Prizes included a poster of the winning artwork, T-shirt, solar kits, and a professional wartercolour art box to help Alba pursue a future career as an illustrator!

	The winner is interviewed by the local media.
	One of the youngest contestants in the drawing competition receives her prize.
	Children from local schools receive their regional prizes - T-shirts provided by ManagEnergy, as well as solar kits, solar powered calculators and other gifts generously provided by EREN.
	Older students in the region took part in the photographic competition.
