BEST Urban Freight Solutions (BESTUFS)
BESTUFS is establishing and maintaining an open European network between urban freight transport experts, user groups/associations, ongoing projects, interested cities, the relevant European Commission Directorates and representatives of national, regional and local transport administrations in order to identify, describe and disseminate best practices, success criteria and bottlenecks with respect to the movement of goods in urban areas.

CIVITAS - Cleaner and Better Transport in Cities
The CIVITAS Initiative addresses ambitious cities that are introducing, or that are seriously committed to introduce, sustainable urban transport policy strategies. The aim is to achieve a significant change in the modal split towards sustainable transport modes.
City Freight
City Freight is a European research project on inter- and intra-urban freight distribution networks. It will carry out an analysis of selected freight transport systems already functioning in Europe and evaluate their socio-economic and environmental impacts in an urban context, with a common assessment methodology. City Freight will focus on innovative and promising logistic schemes in the seven countries represented in the project consortium.

EU Transport RTD Results

The Transport Research Programme Knowledge Centre provides a library of significant findings underpinning policy developments in transport. The aim is to provide a reference point for decision-makers from national, regional and local administrations, industry and researchers. The site includes project results and reports, thematic overviews, publications, links and contacts. In early 2004, an extended web site will be launched. This will cover not only EU supported but also nationally financed research in the European Research Area.

Training Programme for Urban Transport Professionals

The European Commission, Directorate-General for Energy and Transport, offers a training programme for urban transport professionals that aims to deliver a comprehensive programme of European training seminars designed for mid-career transport managers and executives working in local/regional authorities and related bodies, or for public transport operators in the EU and future member states.
