The ENER-IURE framework is focused on the fulfilment of the targets established in the ALTENER Programme. These mainly consist on the stabilisation of contaminating emissions of the "White Paper for a Community Strategy and Action Plan: Energy Strategy for the Future - Renewable Energy Sources", doubling the target which calls for a 12% RES contribution to the European energy system by 2010. The ultimate aim of the ENER-IURE project is the establishment of general legal principles and the specific legal instruments required to promote Renewable Energy Sources in the European Union, breaking down the existing barriers to their dissemination. There is no doubt that the implementation of a well-defined legal framework would contribute to strengthening the position of RES. To achieve this goal the following tasks are carried out :
The website includes a database containing most of the legislation affecting Renewable Energy Sources in each country of the European Union. The legislation of different Member States is studied focusing on four main aspects: Finance, Electricity, Planning and Agriculture.
ENER-IURE is a long term project with the support of the Altener Programme of the European Commission, Directorate General for Energy and Transport.
