EUSEW Partner Search No 12: Energy efficiency, renewable energy and energy performance certificates

EU Connects West-Midlands proposes a project the aim of which is to address "fuel poverty" in households or SMEs that spend more than 10% of income on energy costs in rural areas without access to gas networks. This will be achieved by identifying and delivering affordable, sustainable microgeneration technologies for space and water heating. Choice of technology will vary between different regions depending on local energy sources and funding, but may include biomass or air source heat pumps. In rural areas properties can also be difficult to insulate so their efficiency will be improved. The project will implement recommendations provided in energy performance certificates.

There is interest in using local communities to demonstrate this model in order to develop local renewable energy supply chains eg in biomass or wood pellets, and to benefit from scale economies by installing multiple systems/efficiency measures in a small location.

Partners could include local/regional authorities, energy officers/authority officers, renewable/EE technology companies including installers and manufacturers.
