Sustainable energy & Covenant of Mayors in our cities

This ManagEnergy Capacity Building Workshop was organised by Energy Cities and CITENERGO (an organisation founded by the Union of Slovak Towns and Cities).

The workshop gathered together the representatives of eleven cities (Gelnica, Kolarovo, Kosice, Kremnica, Turcianske Teplice, Nitra, Presov, Nove Zamky, Sala, Vrable, Zvolen). Mayors, deputy mayors, energy managers, administrators responsible for strategic city development and representatives of local private companies got to know the Covenant of Mayors initiatives followed now by more than 2000 local authorities all around Europe.

The organisers presented the step by step procedure of the Covenant of Mayors starting with the allocation of sufficient human capacities within the local administration, through to the development of BEI and SEAP, the involvement of local actors and the funding of SEAP actions. The issue of how to implement this procedure in Slovak municipalities was also discussed.
