Since 2005, the Berliner Energieagentur and the European Commission have been honouring companies and projects for outstanding efforts and achievements in energy services with the European Energy Service Award (EESA). At the EESA Ceremony, two Energy Agency Projects win European Energy Service Awards: IRE Liguria [IT] and REGEA [HR].
Winning the award in the “Best European Energy Service Promoter” Category was the Horizon 2020 EnerSHIFT project, a large-scale energy retrofit investment portfolio for public properties in the social housing sector in the Region of Liguria which has been realised for the very first time in Italy. The main concept underpinning the project is that economic shortages and public spending review do not currently make it possible to find the budget for design and investment. The result is that the first EPC tender for Social Housing has been launched, investments of €15 million have been triggered and 76 buildings have been retrofitted. This has led to heat reduction of about 50% and a reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 3,500 tons. [More]
Another important project is the ELENA NEWLIGHT Project from REGEA in Croatia which was also succesful, winning a Recognition Award from the jury. REGEA addressed the modernisation of public lighting systems in 57 municipalities, with the potential to achieve up to 60% in energy and cost savings. In order to collect all the necessary technical data, REGEA developed a methodology for street lighting and specialised software/mobile app (GIS based) energy audits. It is the first Croatian project financed by the EIB ELENA Facility and implemented mainly through Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) and Public-private partnership (PPP) financial mechanisms for the reconstruction and modernisation of public lighting in two counties.[More]
